Got My Indonesia Pics

Yup, they have finally showed up in the mail. Just got them today though, so probably won't get them posted for a couple of days. And yes Tara, there are a couple of videos in there too that I can post.
The pic that I have here is from Kuta, Lombok. We rented bikes when we were there so that we could get up and down the coast. It was a pretty sweet way of getting around. It also allowed us to get off into some villages that we normally wouldn't have gotten to see. There were decent little scooters. You could get 90km on a decent straightaway. As I said before, one of the greatest parts is getting to it. Renting one of these scooters, and then hiring a boat to drop you off in the middle of the water. If you got a young guy, he would often just anchor the boat and come surfing with you. He was also probably one of the few locals that would actually give up waves to you as well.
Anyway, as for me, I'm still in Saint John. Heading back up to the cottage again for the long weekend. Just picked up my buddy Chris' car and am now starting to get ready for my cross country Canada hike. Will figure out how to get some pics up soon.

Cottage Weekend

Well, I've been back in Saint John for just over a week. It feels great to be home, and it has been awesome getting to see the family again. I thought that when my mother picked me up at the airport that she was going to drive me straight to the hairdressers to get the fro chopped off, but I think that she actually likes it. Even Dad didn't seem to mind it too much! Ha.

As what was hoping, I got to go to the cottage right away. My sis Tara and I went up and babysat the kids for the night.....Kate, Kye, and The Jack. I have attached a couple of pics. The first pose is the one where I try to look like I'm talented at water skiing. The next is the courtesy wave pose.

You'll also get to see a picture of The Jack sitting on my knee helping me open up my new survival package from my sis. Yes, this pack was stocked full of important things to help me integrate back into the 'real world'; soap, deoderant, comb, toothbrush (needed one badly), etc. It also contained some other things to help with my new budget for the next while; Mr. Noodles, a bell for my bicylcle (as a car isn't anywhere in the near future). I think that she will be quite surprised at the amount of use that I will get out of it.

Twas a great weekend at the cottage. My brother Greg and Karenanne made it up, as well as Thor. Decided to have a few drinks out by the fire that evening as well. Greg almost fell into the fire because he was so drunk, and Thor missed it all because he was puking in the woods. Thank God that I am the resoponsible one.

Twas awesome hanging out with the kiddies again. Got to watch them run through the sprinkler, build forts on the deck, and then hit the tube on the back of the boat. All in all, it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for!

Back Home!!!

Woohoo! Back to the homeland. Rolled into Toronto last night.....exactly one whole year on the road. Left on June 1st 06 and got back May 31st 2007 (except for my stint back here in September for Dad's Election). Guess I wanted to squeeze out every last minute I could. Ha. I am now officially broke, and somewhat out of steam. Always look forward to sharing beers to catch up, but I don't foresee any late nights out on the town any time soon. These tired old bones are getting ready for an important birthday that is coming up.

Went out with my friends here in TO last night......Greg & Ange, Stinch and Laura, Jones. Got to drink my first pint of Keiths in a long time. Oooo, that sweet nectar. Was nice hanging out with people who have actually known me longer than two weeks. Doesn't take long to get caught up though. I have been working on some decent answers for all those questions as well. Its all a bit of a blur to me right now. Doesn't take much for it to come back though. Hard to believe that it was a year, although I'm sure my liver would beg to differ. Anyway, looking forward to seeing you all soon. As I said, I will be here in TO for a few days, and then heading back to NB on Wednesday. Not sure where else from there!

See you all soon!
