Indonesia

After a week in the big city life of Hong Kong, I am now back to beach land here in Indonesia. What an awesome country this has been so far. Definitely the adventure that I was craving. My first few days were unfortunately met with rain storms, which definitely put a 'damper' on things for me. It IS the rainy season here though, so what can you expect I guess.

I showed up in Denpasar on Bali Island and then quickly headed to Kuta Beach, which is pretty much the main tourist area of Indonesia. I have never seen Hawking like this before.....pretty much every 4 to 5 steps you get asked to buy something. It is the worst that I have ever seen (yes, that includes Kohsan Rd in Thailand). Stuck there for a couple of days and met back up with my buddy Sam (from Calgary) who was part of my surfing crew in Byron. After a big night out on the town, we quickly headed for a spot called Dreamland for some surfing. The waves weren't that great unfortunately, but the weather was spectacular, and the price was right. Yes, $3 for our room right on the beach, and $3 for awesome meals. Yes, living like a king again. Ahh, it feels good.

Anyway, we are heading east to some of the other islands to find some surf. May be a little out of touch for a bit while we are there, but I've been taking tons of pictures and will be sure to update things when I get back into civilization. Bye for now!

Looking forward to an Easter break and a nice Easter Beef Roast. You could join us if you started for home now. Talk to you soon. You would be really impressed with our new computer,. We don't really know how to use it yet but......... Papa

Hey Ry. Hard to believe but you have been gone for almost a year!!

Dad has been working on opening the cottage...can hardly wait to get back there. You'll have to make sure you make the cottage one of your stops on your world tour.

We too are looking forward to a long Easter Weekend and Dad's Prime Rib.

Dad, I think you and Ry would have a great time in Indo together. I know how you love not knowing where your next meal is coming from... you love getting drunk all night and then sleeping in until noon, you love not planning where you are going to be the following week and I think you would be a great wing man for Ry... LOL

The roast beef dinner at your Mom & Dad's was to die for. Cooked to perfection with lots of rich gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots and peas. I had seconds of the meat alone with salt & pepper. I always love that about a roast beef dinner - 2nd helping of the meat by itself! Thanks to your seat being empty at the dinner table, Melody & I took it.

Hope you enjoyed your white sticky rice wrapped in seaweed paper.

Love ya - Happy Easter

ps - could you translate my last message?

Hey Folks!!
Good to hear from you all! I am not really able to get to a decent internet connection, so although it seems brief, I have actually been on this damn computer all morning. Dad, would love for you to join me here in Indo. And don't listen to what Tara says, you'll be glad to know that I have actually been in bed by 11:00 every night and up by 6:30am for the surf. Not bad eh! I figured you would like that.

Colin, good to hear that you guys filled the void at the table for Easter dinner. Right now, I think that I could probably eat that whole roast myself.

Tara, you're msg cracked me up. LOL! All the island hopping I do here is by boat, so it reminds me of trying to catch the old PEI ferry. Sam and I actually ran for one the other day, and then we sat there for and hour and a half waiting for the boat to leave the shore. Ha.

Mom, I have tons of crazy pics for the new computer, but I can't get anything to work here at all. Should be back in Kuta Bali next week and will hopefully be able to figure things out.

Love you all! Talk to you soon.

I have to say that I was disappointed at the G Rating of those pics when Aldy was there. I know better than that...
