Byron Bay
Hey Folks,
Not much to report here, as I guess it has kind of been the same old same old for me these days. It feels kind of nice to say that actually.
My typical day:
Life is tough I tell you.
Also, I have to mentioned that Aldy is coming to visit me in about a week or two, and I'm pretty stoked about it. Always nice to see a friend from home. I think that I am going to take a week off the booze to prepare for his arrival. I will definitely have to introduce him to Goon. Goon is what they call the cheap wine here. 4 litres for 9 bucks. Obviously, it is pretty popular with the backpackers here. It is also convenient in that we can store the goon bag in the bushes downtown and then have it for in between bars.
Anyway, I just found my camera that I thought that I had lost, so I am going to get back onto the pictures. Here are a few random ones that I have taken though.

My typical day:
- Wake up whenever I feel like it.
- Usually go for a swim in the pool and grab a quick bite to eat.
- Play a good game of beach volleyball.
- Find some people and play guitar for a couple of hours.
- Head to the beach to hang out for a bit and catch some waves until sunset.
- Come back and fire up a good dinner with the boys, and then sit back with a few beers.

just so you know ryan, the hot oven bakery formerly owned by mr. bob gray makes a mean meat pie. just sayin'.
and also, while i'm here, can i request you bring home some of your surfer friends for me? thanks so much.
Becca
RyN...
Surfing spots look stellar. Also like the look of the new tent--you're on millionaire's row now, dude!
Little worried about your cholesterol, what with the barley sandwiches and meat pies. But surely you're pumping out the toxins thru surfing...LOL
Pretty mum, surfer boy: "she" took a pic of the wrong surfer. And what "she" would that be, hmmmmm???
Looks like you're living an awesome life. Find work so you can stay for another year...now THERE's a plan!!! Hugs....Yorga
Becca,
I have a whole new appreciation for meat pies now and when I get back to Canada, there is nothing I would like more than a meat pie cooked by the bakery formerly owned by Bob Gray!!
I will try to send some surfer dudes your way. How many would you like?
Frisky,
I am definitely living the life of luxury in my new habitat....well, relatively speaking anyway. And yes, the ocean cures all. Nothing like a few waves and some salt water to kill those unwanted hangovers.
And as for the 'she' well, 'she' would be Greg's g/f. Don't you remember, I said that I was going to give up all the bad influences in my life and women were right at the top of the list! Ha!!
HAHAHA! No word of a Lie, I got an email from a buddy of mine who is staying near you i think and he spent a good paragraph on 'the goon"....I'll let him know where you are, his name is ben Postin....you guys should hook up, he's teaching down there for a year or maybe he's learning how to teach....i dunno.
Things here are going well.....found out I'll be transferred out of Whistler to a little Island off the coast of Vancouver prolly in July but its not on paper yet so I'm just waiting. Anywho, looks like you're having fun....seriously though, everyone keeps asking if your coming back...should we be worried?
Sly
Shaggy in your Scooby Do van...that's what we will call you from now on!
Would like an explanation of what Poi is please.
The beaches look amazing...hmmmmm.
Sly,
The goon is a godsend here in Auz. The greatest part is, is that the back of the box says that it MAY contain eggs and other dairy products. Mmmmmm.
That's too bad that you're leaving Whistler....heard the powder there is awesome right now.
Hey Tara,
Poi is when you see these guys spinning fire. It is pretty crazy to watch. You can probably go to youtube.com, type in poi and check it out. I have been practising it during this trip and tried it with fire for the first time a couple of weeks. Caught myself on the side of the head and lost a little hair over it. Ha.
oh ryan.. as many as you can spare. i can be their toronto tour guide! perfect.
i prefer one with an accent. just sayin.
Ryan, well it is no surprise that you are still in Byron's Bay 3 weeks after the original post. I knew that vibe would sit "too" well with you! There is more to Oz than Byron Bay. It is worthwhile to make take a trek into the outback. Heck, you have a job now! Keep living it up, we got more snow in T.O. Peter R
yeah! live it up Hippy!!
*cursing my life*
Sly.
So I looked up a guy doing Poi on You Tube to see what it was (as you suggested I do). Fire and all. (Pretty cool by the way). So I decided to send it to Mom to show her what your new hobby looks like. But I wasn't clear in my email to her that it wasn't you, just some guy and she thought it was actually you!!! She watched it several times amazed at your new talent. And I think she even told a few people about how great you are at this new hobby. Ooops. Now you need to learn it as well as the guy in the video or better for Mom to be impressed. Sorry.
Hi Ry,
One of these days you are going to have to come back to reality, you surfing bum. The beaches are gorgeous. Us girls are going to have to go there and give up Florida for a year.
We enjoyed our cruise through the Panama Canal. It was quite an experience. Wasn't that impressed with Costa Rica but only saw a small bit. We took a train ride to a Banana Planation which was interesting and got some pictures of Howler monkeys. Philip is back in Bosnia and he'll be home for good the end of March. Haven't sold the house yet and getting a bit impatient in that regard.
Hope you're being careful. Stay safe. Love Auntie Marion
ryN...
Genie Awards were fab. I somehow chatted with all the big stars thru sheer luck...no wait, it was thru my own star wattage drawing them 2 me. LOL The Trailer Park Boys did a little on-air skit at my table while I chatted with Colm Feore...partied at The Drake until 3 AM. No slouch, for an "Old Lady".
Speaking of, birthday on the 8th. Hosting a party at cool Ethiopian restaurant on 16th, celebrating my age in dog years = 189! (No, it's not 7-1 dog-man, there's a formula). 189 has a nice ring to it...I'm 189!
Keep up the surfing so I can drool. Was looking at my Kauai pix just now & sighing, since there's a blizzard happening outside my window in TO.......Yorga
Dearest Macintyre Familly,
I know this was not an official, documented, all expenses paid, please save our son trip. However, keeping this in mind, he is indeed alive, reasonably functional and still the same tall skinny fucker we have all learned to love. I did also make a pact with him and make him commit to returning to the great land that the whole world respects as Canada. We did manage on our first night of responsible drinking to get kicked out of the bar! (we started way to early - 4 Pm)Ryan proceed to return with me to the hostel common area to explain all the Intricacies of love in this area and i must say he did have quite a few listeners. Now that i have the "luxury sweet' (pictures to follow) he decided to free his tent of one night of intense gas releases to my bedroom. Then we Got up and Surfed All day. He took care of me as i may have succumed to some serious Ocean induries.
Peace. Aldy
Ryno,
Yet again I check this blog towards the end of my day and weep. Thanks so much... good thing we're not in the midst of a cold snap...
Spent Saturday with K Jones and his pops at the Bier in Hamilton - Jones' brother Scott is New Brunswick's 3rd - they beat Russ Howard's rink twice to get there. Anyways - good times cheering for a province I've never lived in.
Just an FYI - eating 5 Brier hot dogs (aptly named "The Bulldog") and drinking beer for 8 straight hours will NOT leave you in good shape the next morning.
Bigg upps, madd love
Stinch
